Protecting Taxpayers

As a businessman, Leon knows the importance of meeting deadlines and reasonably reducing costs. New and higher taxes only hurt residents and economic development efforts in a state already overburdened with taxes. Leon has joined in publicly opposing the damaging new taxes and fees approved by Democrats who control state government and will focus on reducing the costly state mandates that jeopardize local property taxpayers.

Leon will also use his decades of business experience to expand the tax base with quality economic development projects and provide real and lasting relief for taxpayers.

Economic Development and Job Creation

Leon has two decades of experience in establishing and growing businesses, operating successful businesses and commercial properties throughout the Capital Region and Rensselaer County. These businesses and commercial properties have helped create dozens of new jobs in the county. Leon’s business development experience will be a great asset as Rensselaer County continues to attract new jobs and businesses to the growing county.

As one of four representatives of Rensselaer County on the important Capital District Regional Planning Commission, Leon has worked on efforts to attract grant funding for infrastructure improvements, including water, sewer and road projects. Leon also recognizes the need to protect quality of life and neighborhoods while working to expand the tax base in the county.

Environment and Quality of Life

For the past three years, Leon has served as a member of the Rensselaer County Environmental Management Council, which promotes recycling, protection of natural resources, open space and environmental education. Leon has helped in the management of the Papscanee Island Nature Preserve, located in East Greenbush and Schodack, and has assisted in a county recycling program that recycles bottles and turns the proceeds over to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

Open and Effective Government

Leon believes the best government is government that is open, effective and responsive to residents. Leon supports efforts to maintain or expand opportunities for members of the public to address county lawmakers, and to continue to reach out to county residents via websites, newsletters and news articles.

Leon is not a politician, he’s a businessman who cares about the community and wants to work for a better future. I know he will do a great job for us.
